Certificate Program (MCP)

The 网曝吃瓜 Management Certificate Program (MCP) offers low entry barriers, flexibility, and a guaranteed pathway to UBC鈥檚 Faculty of Management Master of Management. Designed for students who may not yet meet direct entry requirements, it provides academic preparation, credit transfer options, and comprehensive support (e.g., scholarships, housing). By streamlining the transition to the UBC Faculty of Management, this program serves as an ideal launchpad for students aiming to join a top-tier North American Master of Management program.

This program is pending DOE approval for Title IV Financial Aid Funding.聽

Program Highlights

Flexible Learning Modes:

  • The pre-master鈥檚 program consists of聽6 courses, which can be completed only online.
  • Online students: Can apply and begin the program after completing their last year of undergraduate studies.

Curriculum Structure:

  • 2 graduate-level academic English courses
  • 1 intensive Business communication English course
  • 3 Master of Management core courses (鈥淜ey Courses鈥�)

Credit Transfer:

  • Students may transfer the two highest-scoring Key Courses into the UBC Faculty of Management Master of Management program.

Admission Requirements

Academic Background:

  • Open to graduates of聽3-year or 4-year bachelor鈥檚 programs聽(no discipline restrictions).
  • Undergraduate GPA: Minimum 75% average in the final two years of study (no work experience required).

Language Proficiency:聽

  • IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (e.g., TOEFL, PTE) at the time of application.

Students who do not have official language test scores may contact us to request an internal language assessment.聽

Simplified Process:

  • No submission required: GMAT/GRE scores, personal statements, recommendation letters, or interviews.

Graduate Level – Management Major Courses

Managerial Decision Analysis

This course equips students with a structured framework for analyzing complex managerial decisions. Emphasis is placed on integrating data, ethics, innovation, and organizational behavior into decision-making. Students will explore topics such as planning, leadership, control systems, and global management to develop practical, career-ready skills. Students also examine entrepreneurship and new-venture decision contexts alongside planning, leadership, and global management issues.

Financial Management

This course examines key financial decisions faced by managers. Topics span capital structure, dividend policy, mergers and acquisitions, executive compensation, financial disclosures, internal financing, and international finance, all viewed through a shareholder-value lens. Students will learn how to assess financial performance and apply valuation tools to support strategic investment choices.

Managerial Statistics & Analytics

This course introduces students to statistical and analytical tools for data-driven decision-making. Through hands-on Excel applications, students will build models, interpret results, and apply techniques such as regression, forecasting, and data mining to solve real-world business problems.

Graduate Level – English & Writing Courses

Composition I

Students will gain a foundation for University graduate-level writing, valuable for nearly any field. This course focuses not only on writing but also on reading and critically engaging various texts. Students will read and write essays with a variety of rhetorical purposes: Observing, explaining, investigating, evaluating, problem-solving, and arguing. Also includes library and electronic research culminating in research papers.

Composition II

This course further develops students鈥� ability to write for University graduate-level academic and professional contexts with increased emphasis on argumentation and research. Requires students to evaluate, integrate, and document print and digital sources to produce a range of academic and multimodal texts, culminating in a fully documented research paper.

Business Communications

This course will enable students to develop communication skills that will be effective in job search, performance, career advancement, and organizational success. Students will develop effective writing, listening, presenting, and interview skills through the process of practice, application, and meaningful feedback.
